Description

Elevate your IKEA Kallax storage system with our elegantly designed, yet highly functional modular organizer. This innovative solution transforms your Kallax boxes into customized storage spaces, perfectly suited to your individual needs. Each meticulously crafted caddy is engineered to slide smoothly onto the side of your Kallax box, allowing for effortless integration and organization. I encourage you to stay updated with our project for the latest in organizational design, ensuring your space is always optimized with the most cutting-edge solutions. Make the most of your storage with our modular organizer, a perfect blend of simplicity and efficiency.

Compatibility

Please note that IKEA's Kallax boxes come in a range of wall thicknesses, varying across different models and materials. The thickness differs between the side walls and the front/back panels. Our current models are specifically designed to fit the sides of the DRÖNA box, which have an approximate thickness of ~3mm. While they can also be attached to the front and back, expect a slightly tighter fit due to the variance in thickness.

For those considering the paper-based TJENA box from IKEA, be aware that its sides are thinner and more sharply defined. When using our caddy with these boxes, you may find that the caddy slides more easily, and it might interfere with the closing of the box's lid. It's important to consider these factors to ensure the best fit and functionality for your storage needs.

Printing

The clip has been enhanced with a specialized support structure, designed for optimal performance, allowing it to snap off cleanly and easily. For this project, I utilized white PLA Meta filament from Jayo, which yielded excellent results. However, the design is highly adaptable and can be effectively printed with a variety of standard filaments. Furthermore, the printing profile is finely calibrated to prioritize speed, ensuring a quick yet high-quality production process.

Size Request

If you have a request for a specific size, feel free to mention it in the comments. I welcome your suggestions and will seriously consider incorporating them into future designs. Your feedback is valuable in helping to enhance the BoxCaddy.

Strength Issue:The clip is fragile, I printed 3 boxes an one clip cracked when placing it. My sugestion is to widen the clip a bit. Also may be an idea to add 2 clips at each end for stability Like the idea, very useful print thanks for sharing this.

Could you please share the specific type of material and brand of filament used for your 3D print? Additionally, I'm interested in knowing on which side of the box the failure occurred. Could you possibly provide a photo of the failure for a clearer understanding? Any extra details you can provide would be extremely helpful, as I haven't experienced a failure myself yet. I understand that the Kallax boxes can be challenging due to the varying thickness of their walls. Hence, a failure on one side could potentially be a success on another, making it a tough issue to address. Also, I realize that increasing the width of the clip could pose a problem, as it may restrict the positioning of the box due to its thicker edges.

Strength Issue:the clip failed on one (of 2), fixed with superglue but overall a very useful print!

thank you for the feedback. Although I did not have a failure myself, I will think of ways to improve the design. Do you have a picture that shows where exactly it failed? Did it fail during print or installation?

it failed during install, it's almost like it was a little too snug and not quite strong enough at the top to absorb the stress. honestly i probably pushed a little too hard, but can see them failing if moved multiple times so i thought i'd let you know, I don't have a pic (it's in the craft/print room) but it was literally right at the top of the mount.
