Description

Similar to the popular original, but this remix fixes many issues and allows for single-color prints for much less waste.

The parts are compatible, so if you’ve already started the other design or really want a single piece dog you can mix and match.

Notes:

Everything has been split up, except the “this is fine” text in the speech bubble, which is merged with the white background.
A simple “add color change” to the appropriate layer height will fix that.

  • All the parts of the dog has been re-meshed to lower the polycount and/or smooth it a bit more, except the two ears which are still basically the same mesh.
  • The separated parts on the dog (ears, nose, eyeballs, pupils, hat) have been modified with some sort of key/aligning plate for proper alignment.
  • The ears, eyeballs, nose and hat uses aligning plates that are printed separately. (The hat uses the longer rectangular plate).
  • The pupils have extruded surfaces that slot into the eyeballs.
  • All the hat parts are aligned together with the “Hat_Aligning_plate”. The plate is inserted through each part and then the whole assembly is stuck onto the dogs head.
  • The stick for the speech bubble has a little extruded edge that slots into the point of the speechbubble.
  • Flames have been separated into yellow and orange parts.
  • Chair has been re-modelled into several pieces, and use a separate aligning plate.
  • Chair legs are separate.
  • Table has only been modified to accept a 10mm magnet from the bottom.
  • Mug has been remodeled to have a magnet in the bottom, and with a coffee insert (or other beverage of your choice). That insert is just a cylinder that slides into the mug on top of the magnet and glued in place.
  • Base plate has been re-made with slightly larger tolerances.

Assembly

-The left parts of the dog has some minor markings in order to separate them:

The left pupil has an L.

The left eyeball has a little marking next to the slot.

Left ear also have the little markings.

-The hat parts have little markers showing what is forward (towards the dogs nose).

(There are also a mark on the bottom of the hats top part).

Printing:
Some of the separated parts aren't perfectly flat or have a good contact point. So I would recommend using rafts and/or supports where needed.

Post processing:

Some parts have very low or no tolerences at all (flames and speech bubble), so they might be too tight to push together.

I managed to push all my flames together without any real sanding except to get rid of some elephant foot. But your results may vary depending on how your printer and filaments are tuned.
