Description

************************

Update: Some users reported tight hinge or impossible to break loose the hinges.

I added 2 more models with 0.02mm more gap and 0.04mm more gap.

I used 0.18 on my P1S. It is perfect.

The 0.22 on my P1S would be too loose for sure.

So you may want to start with 0.20 gap, and then go either way according to how tight you want the hinges to be.

Desiccant Box Model for 3D Printing

Designed for optimal moisture protection, this desiccant box is an ideal solution for storing desiccant beads or silica gel beads ranging from 2mm to 4mm. Precision-engineered, the box features 1.9mm holes ensuring maximum effectiveness of the beads while preventing them from spilling out.

Key Features:

  • Printed with the Bambu Lab P1S Printer: Showcasing the capabilities of this printer, the model boasts a crisp finish and impressive detailing. It is so satisfying by watch P1S do hundreds of those 1.9mm holes. After it's done, you will trust your P1S can do anything you want!
  • Print-in-Place Design: Simplifying the assembly process, this model doesn't require additional steps post-printing. The hinge and latch systems are both integrated into the single print.
  • Material Compatibility: The box is compatible with generic PLA and PLA+ filaments.
  • Extended Print Time: Clocking in at approximately 3 hours, the extended print time ensures that every detail, especially the small holes, is perfected.
  • Secure Latch Design: Created with the user in mind, the latch is intentionally tight to prevent unintentional openings and potential spills.
  • Print-in-Place Hinge: A sturdy hinge is built directly into the design. During the initial break-in, it's crucial to support the box close to the hinge. There are three hinging sections to work through; simply start from one side and wiggle back and forth. The initial cracking sound is a normal part of the process, signaling the hinge breaking free.
  • Versatile Use: I've personally printed over 10 of these boxes, using several for my filament storage and others for dry storage for my additional printers.

Usage Recommendations: Upon first use, carefully break in the hinge by following the mentioned process to ensure longevity.

I did try to make a slotted version which only takes 1.5 hours vs 4 hours, but those broken beads will fall through the slots. Dotted version has no problem to stop the broken beads from leaking through. But if you do any the slotted version, please let me know. I can send the step file to you. or post it here.

Hinges too tight. Print lots of print in place models that work fine with hinges. Machine is tuned to perfection. Great design, just could not close the lid. Printed on PS1, X1C and P1P.

Hi Richard thanks for downloading this model and tried it on 3 different printers. I felt bad that all 3 failed. My P1S has been giving me very good result on this box. For the ones I have printed. I only needed to break in the hinge by a little force. I am sorry it didn’t work out for you. If you still want to give it a try, I could increase the gap by 0.1mm and send you a new model. again. really appreciate your download and comment.

Completed and looked good. Hinges fused together so broke right away.

thanks for the feedback. I will upload one with more gap. I adjusted the gap on my P1S to get the sweet spot of breaking in the hinge not too tight and not too loose. I know 0.05mm makes big difference. probably I should upload two models with one 0.05mm bigger and one 0.1mm bigger.
