Description

This is an improved version of the rotor of the amazing ToroSpin TURBO by Kocyns.

I've had some trouble printing the original propeller with enough stability. Especially the points where the actual rotors are attached to the inner ring were quite weak due to the lack of material caused by the retraction.

So I created a new design that can be printed in Vase Mode. This means there is a continuous nozzle path without the need for travel or retraction. Not only does this method of printing consume slightly less material but it is also more durable than parts with conventionality layered paths.

Printing

Material

I would recommend using PETG because of it's ability to yield, most other Materials should be fine as well.

Settings

It is essential that you print it with “Spiral Vase” (PrusaSlicer) or “Vase Mode” (Cura) and set the bottom and top layers to zero.

You also might want to increase the flow rate a little bit in order to make a better connection between the double walls.

Credits

The ToroSpin TURBO by Kocyns is an amazing demonstration of the powers of planetary gearboxes and very fun to use too.

You should definitely check it out if you haven't already

Tried several times with PETG and PETG-CF... it just doesn't work and ends up in spagetti... 😩

@kuhnikuehnast I’m sorry, it didn’t work out. You could try to print it with a brim. I just updated a print profile with enhanced adhesion. Perhaps that solves your problem.

Try slow mode it should be just perfect and without brim and try ASA. I used ASA and its really easy to print.
