Description

Smartest Person in The Room Trophy

Do you want to highlight someone's intelligence or impress yourself?

Then I present to you a model that will definitely create a “wow” effect.

I have this model in my office, and my colleagues are fascinated by it.

They would like to have one too, but unfortunately, there can only be one smartest person in the room - and that's me, with my trophy.

Version 2023 Smart Person In The Room

In this version, all components are colored in different colors, nothing needs to be assembled.

It is printed as one piece. If you remove the colors, then the printing goes much faster.

Version 2024 Smart Person In The Room

This version consists of 2 parts. The brain part has to be threaded into the head and printed onto the connector.

I assembled my model without glue and it holds.

A nice side effect is that if you only print the head, you can use it as a candy container or dispenser. :-)

So here's my final feedback for the version 2024, which I gave a try. I did have some issues unfortunately and due to the max length of the comment, I create two posts: Base: it's still flushing a lot of filament (19,94g flushed, 37,73g actual model). The text isn't "clear" since it got black lines between every second white line (it seems), which also on the other hand is a cool feature I guess :) The very buttom of the base is white (I don't know why).

I've used support filament, but still couldn't break it off the left ear clean. On the right ear I used scissors, which made it a cleaner break. Brain: I've tried to print it twice - once with support filament, once without. Both times it broke while trying to get it off the plate. It's very lose within the base. I thought it would clip on, but it's just laying on top of it, which isn't too bad if you don't move it around. In general it's very fragile, which I guess is the point of the model. I really like it regardless of my issues. My biggest complaint would actually be the color shifts on the text and the brain which I was unable to get of the plate. I still rate this 5 stars, because it's just a really cool idea and I really appreciate the changes you made to the model, to make it more printable :)

Thank you very much for your feedback and for taking so much time to test it. I will revise the model again next week and solve your problems. It's fun to design when the model is well received by you. It is indeed a very complex model, but I am confident that I will get it right. It's like a technical development, one must continuously optimize it. Sorry for that.

I've uploaded something new. Maybe you'll like it. Tomorrow there will also be a Voronoi version of it. I've tested and printed both, and so far, they work great. https://makerworld.com/en/models/139467#profileId-151996

made slight modifications, minor stringing issues but to be expected, some parts a little too thin for the 0.4 nozzle at this scale but other wise love it! feel like im finally seen!

I really love the idea and design, but I'm really terrified of printing it :) Can you maybe make a version where you slide the head and the brain into the base? So you could print the brain, head and base on 3 different plates, which would also reduce the flushed filament significantly. If I slice the model the way it is now (with no supports), it's going to use 48,86g for the model and flushs 180,88g, which kinda sucks imho :) I also thought about removing the objects and print them one by one, but this would mean I'd have to glue them, which might get difficult with aligning them.

Hello Andre, thank's for your support. I published now a complete new design and concept (Version 2024). I have reinforced the brain-support in the old version (v2023). I changed also the print settings for that.

Awesome! Just sliced it in Bambulab and it's so much faster with so much less flushed filament. I will give it a try once my other print has finished! :) Just need to find out how to color the base to a different color than the head :) Would like to make the base black with white text and the head white.

love these! I'd really like a mix of the two, using the face shape of the 2024 but with an enclosed skull like the 2023 one. is this something you could easily upload, not sure if you designed the complete skull then just subtracted that area or if it'd mean a whole redesign?

Thanks very much, I look forward to it. I'm looking into printing my broken skull and brain from scans I have, but whilst I try to work that out, this will be a great one to do

Love the design but you should make the base holding the brain thicker because mine broke.

Hi Jacob, Did you print the second version? I have already reinforced the support for the brain. I am still in the process of optimizing the ears, but I need another 2 days. If you want to print again, please wait.
