Description

I've found that I prefer a sliding privacy guard for webcams. When manipulating a cap or hinge design, it's too easy to throw off your framing. This design was a bit of a challenge, but I like how it turned out; no additional hardware, easy to print, and smooth to work with.

Great model! This is much nicer looking and I think easier to use vs the flip up models. Very smooth sliding action, and no camera view obstruction even when all the way zoomed out. One problem I had was the little nubs that clip into the camera to hold it in place were a bit loose, so sliding the cover open could knock it off. I tried bending out the flanges with the nubs on it and broke one off. I ended up super gluing it back on, but about 1-2mm farther out so it would be tighter on the camera. This worked out perfectly and it fits tight now and the slide cover still fits and feels great and smooth. So maybe making the nubs 1-2mm bigger total, or the whole flange farther out to make it fit a little tighter.

Glad you like it, and thanks for the feedback! You're right, I'll have try making that adjustment next time i have the file open. it's a touch loose on mine as well. I ended up just using a little blue tack to keep mine in place.
