This remix allows you to transfer your Protospasta 1kg cardboard spools to fit on to your Bambu reusable spools in a more fashioned fit without the use of glue and includes a support ring if wish to choose to add more support while spool is moving in the Bambu AMS, etc.

Just to note the Support Ring is not needed to use, however I found it just nice to include as a piece of mind that the AMS would work more cohesive with it.

This remix includes the following: (1kg Adapter)

Locking spool half circle notch on the adapter side to eliminate any sort of extra adhesion such as gluing the adapter to the Protopasta cardboard spool. the notch also provides alignment to the filament where the filament ends on the inner diameter.

Back-end filament through hole with cut out to pass through Protopasta filament onto the adapter to ensure a good connection between the AMS using the last part of the filament as it leaves the spool.

Flanged end to eliminate adapter shifting while in use and allows for no entanglement of the material to get caught while in use.

Inner diameter was opened up just a tad to allow for a more tolerable fit.

Text added to label, i used this as a test when learning to fill in with the Bambu studio AMS color choices.

Chamfer redone on adapter allow to print the build without making to many steps.

This remix includes the following addition: (Support Ring)

*To note I made this an option in case you are filament cautious however it does add to the adapter if needed.

1.65" Support ring included to allow void to be filled between Bambu reusable spool and Protopasta spool.

Increases spool mass as the AMS creates its rotational turns as filament is used and aids in spool binding when less filament is remaining for use.

Bambu Studio settings to note:

Removed supports on Adapter “backend filament through hole” you can right click that area in the support paint option.

I printed this with the flange down and Enabled Support to Type being normal(auto)

Infill 30%, Gyroid is what i had on my settings you can do whatever pleases your needs.

Bambu Studio optional:

I used the color paint fill option to highlight the text to black you can choose to do this or not and since i was using white to black i chose to set my flushing volume to its max as it should suggest (multiplier 1:20)

Assembly:

Just as the original you can remove the Protopasta 1kg cardboard spool sides.

find the back-end of the Protoapasta filament on the cardboard spool usually goes through the half circle cardboard cut out.

line the 1kg Adapter half circle notch with the spool notch and insert the backend of the spool filament into the through hole on the adapter. while pushing the adapter in place onto the cardboard spool.

attach the adapter with cardboard spool onto your Bambu reusable spool by aligning up the smaller notch on the 1kg adapter with the reusable spool notch. (You should find there's only one way to put this on).

at this point you can add the Support ring on if you choose. then attach the second half of the reusable spool in place.

now your good to go!
