I got tired of reaching all the way back in the printer even with my printed-out tools to disconnect the PTFE tube & cable. It was still a struggle to reach all the way back, especially if you can’t really see what you are doing. After that I decided why not pull the whole unit out.
After designing and testing this for a few days I came to loving how easy this simple task became. I went ahead made a few more final adjustments to make alignment easier and one handed for sliding it back in.
45 minutes and it’s a real quality of life improvement.
the model is printed with a 1mm gap just to make sliding in and out easier. this does however add some wiggle room for the hub to rock back and forth when unloading and unloading the filament. I haven’t noticed and wear on the parts over the last few Months.
DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN INTO THE PRINTER.
Hardware:
Original hub screws.
M3-10mm screws for the base to screw into the printer.
