Description

A Simple Counter, fast to print, easy to assemble.

History and why we are here

When we sat down on New Year's, we played some games that required level-counting and needed to do this with Pen and Paper due to the lack of other things. I am still not sure what my friend has written down, he won but I think he cheated - because we were drunk and only he knew what Level we were and somehow he won. Nevermind. I´ve wanted to print some counters when back home so everyone can see their current state. When checking available models, all colorful prints took ages to print and produced a lot of waste. I am not a painter so I needed another solution with minimal filament changes. So it happened that I opened Fusion 360 again.

Design and Ideas

The counter needed to fulfill some requirements, for example, it needed to be placeable on a table and the points were visible to all participants at all times. So we can notice when somehow for some players magic levels appear. They need to be easy to store and not roll around the table, so we can even handle them when we are drunk - again. I wanted them to be colorful so each player could be assigned a color. Each counter must be printable in a reasonable amount of time, with minimal filament waste on 1 Plate.

Printing

It´s designed to be multi-color and used with AMS. You can change the colors in the slicer to match your desired color scheme.

Assembly Guide

The Numer Roll

Each roll consists of 4 parts that need to be clicked together.

The long number plate needs to be wrapped around the holder. Ensure that you roll it clockwise and that the inner clips are facing counter-clockwise. It should look like in the picture below.

Now simply tighten them with the small rings, so the numbers stay in place.

Repeat this for all number rolls you have 😊.

The Base

The bar has on one side an indicator pointing down. Take any faceplate and put it together like in the image below, so the indicator is pointing down.

Now insert a number roll you assembled earlier, and place it on the bar like in the image below. Ensure that the front is flush, if that's not the case, please check the number roll assembly and rotate the number holder. Add a spacer between every roll.

Finally, add the last roll. It does not need a spacer on top! If its looking like in the image you are good!

Stick on that Base, it may require some force so it clicks in.

Finally, add the last faceplate, and you are done!

I hope you enjoy the design, please leave a comment/rating if you enjoy it or share your feedback!

Print came out great. Very crisp and readable legends. I have two small isssues. the assembly of the inner wheels was pretty difficult and a very tight fit to say the least. I’m also having some trouble rotating the wheels but I’m sure they will loosen over time

Hey, thx a lot for the feedback! I played around a lot with the inner wheels and I can understand your issue - it´s a tradeoff. The area is too small to get something more easy to assemble in place - without needing it to be much bigger. Since this is not a regular part to change I went for that option (you get pretty used to it after a few assemblies 😂)

that’s totally fair haha. I can see it’s a little cramped in there. definitely worth the trade off. Also it’s loosened up a bit for sure as I’ve just played with it. Great model, will be printing a few more in 3 color.

Nice design, really wanted to love it, but hard to assemble and, most important, way too tight, cannot rotate numbers, rendering it useless to me.

Hey, did not encounter this issue yet. Could you point out where the fitting is too tight? Would like to recheck if tolerances can be improved.

Sorry for being so late on this one. Added a 3-digit version now, and a 4-digit version was also added - but it´s still printing. Will provide new images later.

I did print both the 2- and 3-digit ones, both came out crisp, and very nice. Little tight on the assembly, but that is the only thing I would highlight. Benjamin is also a great guy, I asked if he had a 3-digit version, and he uploaded within a few hours! Keep up, my man!
