Description

Reusable Spool - See also the link for a version of a Filament Spool with a Silica Box Included

.

Upgrade 29 Dec 2023

.

This version of the Spool Holder, can be downloaded, for a small fee, using the link above, and allows for the use of Silica Gel Packs as a Passive Moisture-Removing solution. Replace the Silica Packs each time you replace the filament with 'fresh' ones that have been oven-baked or dried in a filament dryer unit, or you can just replace the filament and dry both… the new filament and the silica gel packs at the same time in a filament dryer unit ! This way you can stop using the Silica Packs from the AMS unit as long you have one or two Filament Spools fill with Silica Packs in the AMS!

.

Update 25 Nov 2023

.

Original Manufacturer Equipment Designed 3d Printed Reusable Spool tends to get messy after every print when reeling back the filament. I find myself manually rearranging it each time. Is this an issue unique to this filament roll, or do I mishandle the filament when loading it onto the spool? Time will tell, as I continue to replace filaments.

.

Update 30 Dec 2023

.

I realize why the Original Manufacturer Equipment Designed 3d Printed Reusable Spool do not work properly - in my case at least - with the AMS. In my opinion, the Original Manufacturer Equipment Designed 3d Printed Reusable Spool - Weight - , using basic Bambu Studio Slicer - Basic Settings, is at the minimum threshold limit; when spool is full … it will work, however… as the filament is used and it goes lighter… you may expect some failures when reeling back the filament.

.

Sample was printed with ABS using Bambu Studio Slicer - Basic Settings - and X1C Printer.

As I don't have an AMS, I seem to end up with a lot of spool leftovers which I still want to keep for those smaller jobs. This has meant that I can buy refills and and easily transfer material. Initially I printed with PETG which started ok but went a bit stringy at the threads. After a bit of trimming it's still very useable with the two halves locking together nicely.

First time with a printer and my wife bought refills instead of spools so we made this!

great print, minimal filament usage. printed in PLA and it feels super sturdy, so no concerns about wear and tear. I'd even argue this spins better in the AMS than most others I've tried

The design of the locking mechanism is great. Even with the notch it is well thought out but I had to move the RFID label to one side so that the filament could no longer be recognized automatically. What would be really good would be to include a marker for the fill level of the filament. In other words 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, 1. Thanks for your work.

Thank you for your comment! Regarding the fill level of the filament, in my opinion, the small label that comes with the spool is just a joke. It has nothing to do with a real reading since you can't have a linear ruler with equal increments on a round spool! I am a practical person. Previously, I used to weight the spool when I was getting close to the end of the filament. Now, I can rely on X1C printer to keep track of the quantity of filament I have on the spool, or I may not care at all and have a second spool with the same filament to take over. This way, I do not end up with unfinished spools! All the best! https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/tool/bambu-filament-reusable-spool

Printed in PLA (I know I should go stronger but that's all I had) and it's working well. no issues printing and no issues in application
