Description

Created this beautiful and festive Christmas tree decoration. It can be easily printed in vasemode. The profile is configered with variable layer hight to make sure the top (which will eventually be the bottom) is nicely closed and strong enough. You can use a standard Christmas ball hook (12mm hole), or print your own (cap with hook now also included in the print profiles).

Be careful when taking it off the build plate. I always use the Bambu scraper to make sure it doesn't break at the wrong place. Vase mode can be a bit fragile.

Currently there are three versions:

  • one ball with 12 ridges (a more open spiral)
  • a ball with 18 ridges (for a more dense spiral) UPDATED; improved variable layer hight to make the top of the print even better
  • a taller and slimmer ornament with 18 ridges
  • a cap with hook to make it easier to hang in the Christmas tree

Planning to design a 12 ridges version of the taller one.

I printed mine in Bambu Silk PLA which looks very nice. Could easliy be printer in 0.12mm layer hight as well for even more detail.

Also check out my matching spiral Christmas tree topper:

I was inspired by the design below, but wanted a stronger spiral, closed bottom, slimmer core, and less & thinner ridges/spirals. So I have drawn my own version in Shapr3D. Shapr3D files available on request.

I created a hanger for it - delicate, but works as intended (and don't disturb the beauty of main model) https://makerworld.com/en/models/80954#profileId-86114 BTW: This christmas ball is the last print my bambu is "playing" for hours, I cannot get rid the melody it's producing by this vase mode :P

Looks really great! And very clever hook! The printer does play a very catchy tune when printing this. :)

Einfacher, schneller Druck. gefällt mir mit 2farbigen Silk-Filament am besten. Hier mit Eryone Filament gedruckt.
