Description

Version 5

Features:

  • SNAP TOGETHER DESIGN
  • MOVING SIDE-RODS
  • ROTATING WHEELS
  • MAGNETS FOR COUPLING TRUCKS (OPTIONAL)
  • NO SUPPORTS
  • FITS COMMON KIDS WOODEN TRACK (20mm between wheels)

  • MATCHING CART/TRUCK

A three piece, snap-together, print-in-place toy steam train with moving wheels, and moving side-rods and built in supports with complementing cart. Based on the LBSCR E2 Class with extended side tanks from 1916 of which Thomas the Tank Engine from “The Railway Series” Books by Rev. W. Awdry and “Thomas and Friends” TV Show, is based upon.

BILL OF MATERIALS:

PRINT LIST:

  • TOP, QTY = 1
  • BOTTOM LEFT, QTY = 1
  • BOTTOM RIGHT, QTY = 1
  • CART HALVES, QTY=2
  • SNAP CLIPS, QTY = 6

ADDITIONAL HARDWARE:

  • 5x3mm MAGNETS, QTY = 4 (OPTIONAL)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Print all pieces. Careful when removing the snap clips.
  2. Gently remove supports by applying horizontal pressure just where the support meets the part. If you experience resistance, use a sharp knife to carefully separate the join.
  3. Apply careful rotating force to release the wheels. Wheel will continue to loosen with use.
  4. Use snap clips to connect the two bottom halves (right and left) together. Insert the clips firmly until a snap can be heard.
  5. Finally, connect the bottom half to the top with the remaining clips.
  6. (Optional) Use a light application of epoxy with 5x3mm round neodymian magnets. Be sure to orient the magnets correctly before affixing. (ie. make sure the magnets are flipped the correct direction to attract and not repel other toys).
  7. Enjoy!

0.4mm nozzle

0.2mm Layer Height

Print finish but it does not separate from included designed supports without coming apart completely.

Surprising and I'm sorry mate. Never had anyone say that they had that issue before. The supports should remove relatively easily. Can I ask some things to trouble shoot? What part did you have the problem with? The wheels, the side bar? What came apart? What kind of filament are you using? Thanks for your patience.

May sound silly but you are using a 0.4mm nozzle correct? Just making sure because the spacing is designed for the stock 0.4 Nozzle. Using a larger like a 0.6 or 0.8 would cause the slicer to mess up the print and not understand the spacing between the supports and the actual nozzle. And looking at it Bambu would not stop you if that's what you did. Other materials like PETG would likely also not play nice and cause the supports to stick. I'll look at it again and maybe upload a supportless version when I can so the user could manage that themselves if they like.

Printed nicely. Would be cool if there was a printed coupler option rather than requiring magnets.

good looking print but 3 wheels broke off by "applying rotating pressure"

nice design and fairly easy to disassemble. If you are not going to use magnets I wouldn’t print this. nothing to tie the two pieces together.
