Description

Summary

I looked for cases for my MPCNC and new SKR 1.3 with TFT35 V2.0 and while there were a couple they didn't quite meet my needs.

I designed this case with the following requirements:

  • Access to the microSD card & USB port on the SKR 1.3 AND the SD card on the TFT35 V2.0
  • Airflow over the stepper motors (fan)
  • Not too many holes in the case (using with a CNC so lots of dust to worry about
  • Ability to flip the display/angle with little work. With the latest firmware just flip the lid of the box and then rotate the display and it has an angle upward if mounted on the front rather than flat)
  • Fits a 40x10 fan (no screws; held in place by side rails and a top block)
  • Fits a female 5.5MM x 2.1MM DC plug which runs power in. If you don't need this you can just run the power wires through the hole or edit the Fusion 360 file to change to suit your needs.

For the flip case currently I use it mounted vertically so I need the display to be angled upward. I expect in the future to move and need to mount it horizontally so I'll flip the top. This case is designed to allow you to flip it without changing any components.

To hold everything in place:

  • M3 screws to hold the SKR 1.3 down. I installed brass inserts but it should also self tap the screws if needed
  • To hold the lid on: M3 screws and brass inserts.
  • To hold the TFT on M3 screws come in from the top and are held to the TFT35 via a nut

I included the Fusion 360 file so feel free to edit to suit your needs.

For the MPCNC I had to create my own firmware to run everything:
