Description

This is a new way to do my masks without tulle! I experimented in the past and had limited success, but I've learned more over time and feel I've got this done.

The decoration on this mask was meant to be like gems or gemstones, but I also think they kind of look like little solid feathers going out from your face.

This mask works by doing the first spiderweb like layer in clear/natural flexible filament. Then you change to the color you want for the following layers to get a mask that looks like it is floating on your face. I think the base layer is a bit more obvious than the tulle I've used on my other masks, but this mask is much more durable and more comfortable.

Printing

Printing this can be tricky if you have bad luck with the Pause function like I do. I could not ever get it to work right with this mask so I gave up, but if you can, add a Pause between the first and second layers and when the printer pauses, go into the menu and do a color change and switch to a new flexible filament color.

If you have back luck with pausing like me, here is how I got it to work.

  • Set the print to have a Color Change between the first and second layers and have a prime tower to help.
  • When your print goes to print the prime tower on the second layer, go into the control screen and tell the printer to Pause.
  • When it pauses, go into the menu and change the filament.
  • Resume the print. Hopefully it will finish the prime tower getting the filament ready and continue the rest of the print with the new color.

That is so great to hear! I was really happy with how this technique turned out and I want to convert all of my mask designs to work this way.
