Description

This is my creation for the “Flying Objects Design Contest 2023”.

The SpaceX Falcon Heavy Launcher

  • I hope you like the Launcher and it would be great if you give me a like and follow😉
  • Update V1.15 => Changes at the bottom

What it is:

Its a little Rocket Launcher Toy in an Falcon Heavy Design!

You simple hammer the button and the rocket flies up through the air pressure.

The button is spring loaded with a easy printable spring.

The tower is only decorative, i tried to look similar to the SpaceX tower:

Real vs Model 😊

Printing:

I printed all parts in PLA+ but other materials could work better like the spring in PETG. Try and share your knowledge.

No support needed!

Your Printer need an good accuracy for the button and the rocket! They should fit nicely and seal a bit. But they should not clamp!

With my X1 Carbon it turned out well. Scale the rocket and the button a little bit (<1%) if they are to tight or to lose.

Assembly:

Print in Colors you like most👌
New Spring design, assemble as shown
Insert the spring and press the tower in the base.

Load Rocket and Button. You could add a bit of grease into the push button to seal it better.👍

Check the accuracy of your print, if you can get it smooth like that, the rocket flies very good!

Next:

I want create an alternative Tower and alternative Rockets! Stay tuned.😎

Or you want a NASA Button?

Update V1.1:

  • Bigger push button for more airflow
  • Dual Lips at the button base to seal better (better to grease here)
  • New Spring design
  • Clearances optimized
  • Give the rockets more front weight to fly more straight
  • Added Saturn 18 Model (additional Rockets profile) => flies to the roof
  • Added Kids Rocket (additional Rockets profile) => no sharp edges….stay safe
  • Added Helical Rocket (additional Rockets profile) => give it a spin
  • Added Rocket Holder (extra Print profile) => Removes the tower

Update V1.15:

  • Remove the Text from the Falcon, some users got no tight rockets. You can print/ download the Falcon with Text still under “additional Rockets” profile.

Happy Printing and enjoy👍

Hi, check the smothness from the button. Try to adding some grease to the button, it will seal better. But the saturn model (see print profile) flies even better. Consider i did much work into the model, if you can get it fly it will be nice to get more stars instead of 3.

Replying to @erikprinz :
Will be nice to get even more stars than 3 🙄 Updated the rockets as well and give them more material in the front to fly more straight

Scaled up 200%, going to try printing the rocket in TPU (for kids toy purpose)

Generally very nice model, had a print failure at the building, but I decided to leave it like that. The falcon 9 was a bit heavy and didn't fly so good. However my daughter broke off the tip of the rocket while playing just above where the boosters connect and this piece now flys pretty damn high ;-). But using some vaseline for reducing friction and better sealing also helped.

Thanks for your Review, thats why i decide to create a additional building without a tip and rockets which are lighter. More fun for the kids 😃

Saturn 5 review. Profile works. I nevertheless suggest to add a brim, for A1 and A1 mini printers
Bed Adhesion Issue:the rocket can fall when reaching higher layers.

Hi thank you for review. I added 4 buildplates in the additional Rocket profile! Now everybody can choose with or without brim. 😉

Lovely design. It doesn’t fly very high, but that’s probably for the better since that makes it safer for kids. I haven’t tried greasing the button, but that would probably help.
