Since I'm driving a van, I've often had the problem that I can't reach easily machines at barriers or toll stations. They are often too low because they are made for normal cars. Sometimes there is also a higher control panel for trucks, but this is often too high.
For example, when I drive to my place of work, I have to open a barrier with an RFID chip every day. I could no longer reach the reader without undoing the belt and leaning half out of the window.
So I designed this tool. When unfolded, the arm extension is 63cm long! The hinge is a print-in-place design.
The head can be replaced depending on what you need.
There are currently two tool heads: a card holder that can hold credit cards or parking tickets and a clip into which an RFID chip can be clicked in. My RFID chip has a diameter of 32mm, which I think is a common size. The clip is so strong that the RFID chip can remain on the key chain.
I already have ideas for other tool heads:
- angled card holder
- Magnetic holder
- bracket
- Hook
- Cup (e.g. for coins)
