Description

For the most up-to-date parts, visit the GitHub project page.

A 3D-printed, 4WD RC drift car. 1:28 scale, fits 90mm (M) wheelbase MINI-Z shells.

Test drive: https://youtu.be/90DoZpYbfy4

U-joint closeup: https://youtu.be/g_EzM2HMQvg

Note: Some parts in this design are quite challenging to print - make sure you have a well-calibrated printer before attempting. For best results, print the parts in ABS or PETG.

For grip racing or a simpler and cheaper build, my RWD chassis design is available here.

Features:

  • Fully indepdendent sliding suspension
  • 4WD drivetrain with printed U-joints (no differentials)
  • Mid-mounted battery and motor - approx 50-50 weight distribution
  • Parallel steering geometry for drifting
  • Uses common M3 fasteners, locknuts everywhere
  • TPU printed tires

Non-printed Parts

| Part | Quantity | Notes || --- | --- | --- || M3x10mm button head screw | 8 | || M3x8mm button head screw | 7 | || M3x12mm button head screw | 1 | || M3x18mm button head screw | 1 | || M3 lock nut | 17 | || MR105 bearing | 8 | || 130 size brushed motor, 2s compatible | 1 | || GH-S37D 3.7g servo | 1 | || Compression spring, ~4mm OD, ~4mm length | 4 | Softer springs are better. Springs from multicolor retractable pens work well here when cut to length. Ordinary pen springs are too stiff. || Venom Fly 300mah 2S battery | 1 | || Small brushed ESC, 2S compatible | 1 || Small radio receiver | 1 | 2 channels or more. Flysky GR3E works if you remove its case. || MINI-Z shell, M wheelbase | 1 | Tested with Kyosho MZQ101 AE86 shell |

The U-joint parts have small built-in supports that must be peeled off before assembly. If the supports are stuck too strongly to the print, they can be easily cut off with flush cutters or nail clippers.
