Description

This is meant to be added as a negative part, cutting out a small hole to hang your print on a nail.

A lot of printable wall art may work best with something like command strips, but heavier objects might need a nail or two to hang on.

There's no print profile, because it can't really be used on its own.

How To

  1. Load your wall art object into Bambu Studio
  2. Right-click the object → Add Negative → Load
    1. Select the nail hook cutout STL file
  3. Find the newly added negative part (it often gets added way off to the side)
  4. Its default orientation assumes the printed object is face down on the plate
    1. If the object will be printing face up, then rotate the nail cutout 180 degrees along the Y axis
  5. Change its position to be centered on the printed object
    1. X = 0 (centered)
    2. Y = 0 (centered) or higher up depending on how you'd like to hang it
    3. Z = this will vary based on how thick the original object is
  6. Manually adjust the Z position until the narrowest bit is just barely visible on your object
  7. Slice the plate and check that this has created a “cave” on your object
    1. If a dent is created that a nail wouldn't catch on, then try rotating the cutout 180 degrees and slicing again

If you're printing something quite heavy, you could add multiple of these, in line with each other on Y, and spread apart along the X axis.

Print settings shouldn't matter much, although 3+ wall loops may be best.

There will be some bridging, especially if the object is printed face up, but no supports are needed. Any ugly parts would be inside the hole that faces the wall.
