Description

A Multipart Pinecil Case remix that fits on A1 mini sized bed.

Based on very versatile case from @orax

This case can house:

  • a Pinecil soldering iron with a short tip installed
  • 4 spare tips (short or long): allowing you to have a full set available in the case.  Long tips can only fit in the storage slot.  They will not fit attached to the pinecil
  • 2 spare M2 x 3mm screw
  • a 2mm black mini screwdriver
  • a silicon USB-C cable (compatible with the 1.5m cable sold by Pine64)
  • a 3d printed reel of solder
  • a small accessory slot (such as a piece of de-soldering braid)

For each side, you should fit the insert part into the cover part and make sure everything fits then you can glue each cover with their respective insert.

With both side assembled, you should be able to align them and insert a length 1.75mm filament in the center holes to act as a hinge.

Note: I printed this with an A1-mini and my Pinecil V1 with any of my tips does not fit. I'm guessing the v2 pinecil is a bit shorter.

oh interesting I wasn’t even aware there was a difference. I’ll update this. I’m assuming you don’t have any of the short tips to try? I’m curious if the v1 and v2 bodies are the same but the short vs long tips make up the difference. I’ll take some measurements and add them to the description.

The width is perfect and the pinecil snaps right in. The length of my v1 body is 103.9mm and the two tips I have on hand extend another 69.9 and 71.7 (might be a tad longer than normal as I have them tinned for storage). The inside components printed beautifully using Overland Matte PLA in black, but both outside cases I have tried printing are so thin they broke when I peeled them off the (smooth) build plate. I may increase the walls and switch to a textured plate and try again.

Interesting. My v2 is the same 103mm. But the tips are only 52 mm more when in the pinecil for me. But good to know should work with V1 just need to only use the shorter tips. And I also had a little trouble with the cases. First print had some bad adhesion, but second time worked fine. I'm using the textured plate. They are very thin but are more decorative than anything.
