Description

About

Someone wanted a better way to store their chokers in the closet besides using a regular clothes hanger. I made this to allow for hanging them below the shelf, but above the regular clothes hangers. This takes advantage of previously unused space! I also gave it some coffins to suit the user (and hey, it's October!), but included a basic version without for those less coff-inclined (tested and works).

Of Note

  • You need to rotate the hooks and endcaps so that the flat planes are on build plate.
  • I printed the rod vertically. I used brim and slower speed as I was nervous maxing out Z.
  • You can resize the rod length to suit your needs. I wanted longest my Z would allow.
  • You can adjust thickness of hangers too. I liked 15mm, but 20mm might be more stable.
  • You need to print x2 hangers, and x2 endcaps. Orient them so that the Z seam will be in back away from view. I also flipped which side was on the build plate for the hooks so that they match (with build plate surface on inner sides of the hangers when assembled).
  • I had trouble getting one of the endcaps to snap in, until shaving one wall off the inside of the rod's bottom layer with a blade. This was the build-plate end of the rod. Other end was perfect and just loose enough that it can be removed if desired. You could resize endcap to be smaller if it's actually a problem for you.
  • edit:
The 2nd time I made one of these (the purple make/profile in the photos, using my P1S), I had the opposite issue as above. Despite test working both ways, with the actual model one of the endcaps was too loose (as opposed to too tight). Instead of making them smaller, I have kept them as-is. Better to be a tad small and have to use some glue I'd say. So far I haven't used the glue, but you may find that you need to. Just an FYI!

ClosetMaid Shelf I made this for:

Differences of the remix compared to the original

My own model. I just used the hook part as a visual guide since it already existed. I changed dimensions, style, and made it to have a specific purpose. I also made my own other parts to go with it.
