Description

I created this stereo phone amplifier to provide better sound when watching videos or playing music. Sound is gathered on the right side from the downward firing speakers at the base of the phone. Sound is gathered on the left side from the forward facing speaker at the top of the phone. If you would prefer this to be the other way, the files can simply be mirrored in the slicer. I specifically designed this amplifier to fit an iPhone 13 Pro Max. The slot to place the phone in measures 170mm. This model can easily be scaled on the x axis to accommodate any phone though. I provided a version that is split in order to fit on the build plate, as well as a solid version. The split version has guide pins/holes to aid in allignment. Simply use your favorite glue and the two sides will line right up. Enjoy!

I'm trying to scale this down to fit my iphone SE. I'm a bit confused as to how the sound gets to the left side when the two side that join are solid with no apperent opening for the sound to travel through.

iPhones have stereo sound that uses the top speaker. The sound on the left side comes from the speaker you put on your ear. So the sound on the left comes from the forward firing top speaker and the sound on the right comes from the downward firing bottom speakers. That’s why you can see a little piece on the left that sticks out in front of the phone to gather sound. if you want to scale it for a smaller phone, I suggest only scaling the y axis. If you scale the whole model down uniformly, your phone would likely not fit behind the sound gathering piece on the left side.

Ok great. Now I understand a lot better. I wasn't aware of the iphone's use of the upper speaker for music. Thanks much.

Very cool design. It didn't glue up super well for me (like the sides weren't flat). Probably my problem and not a problem with the design. It does increase the volume, but not by that much. I had to take off my case, and even then, the speakers barely made it "into" the opening for the amplification.

If you read the instructions, I state that you’re supposed to scale it on the y axis to make sure it it the proper length for your particular phone. I provided the current length of the slot you can easily make the proper adjustment. If it’s scaled properly you will get really good amplification.

It was scaled properly. The phone fit just fine. I took the case off so the speakers wouldnt be blocked by it. With your design, my speakers (iphone 14 max) don't point into the tunnel. It definitely does amplify it, but not as much as you would hope. Cool design though for sure!

That’s strange because that’s the same phone that’s in the picture. 🤣 It’s meant to fit the phone itself but also have space for a phone case if you have one on.

I love the concept - it's the only stereo amplifier I have found out there. I'm dumb and haven't been able to scale it down where it fits an iPhone 14 Pro succesfully, though. Not the designer's fault at all. I printed it and it worked well with a friend's iPhone 13, who now has a fancy 3d-printed amplifier.
