UPDATE

Added a V2 - a complete remodel but only in the shorter length for now

My daughter came home yesterday and had broken the arm of her glasses at school.

She wears Tomato Brand glasses, and these things are meant to be tough but somehow she managed to break the arm at the hinge.

New glasses were ordered but what to do for the next few days. 3D printing to the rescue. So while she went to bed I fired up Fusion 360 and got our my calipers. In a couple of hours I refined the design down. Now she has woken up with working specs.

Oculus Reparo!

These have been designed to fit the Tomato Kid B range but the arms seem the same on all “kids” ranges (A, C and D).

I have produced 2 variants “short” and “long” these allow you to put on the tomato ear piece for different head sizes and have provided F3D files and L and R version in STL and 3mf format

The part was designed to be easily printed but the original had a slight bend (that would have required a lot of support). So inspired by The Hitchhikers Guide we need a nice cup of tea.

But in a “proper” mug - it has the right angle

Fill the mug up with really hot water (careful). Place the print bed side against the side of the cup and allow the arm to form to the curve of the cup. Pressure (light) can be applied on the area with the bump on to get the right angle.

Assemble with the original hardware (screws etc) and everything should work.

I printed in PLA at 0.08mm layer height (and also in 0.1mm) as there are curves on the top surface. Nice quick print that I am really proud of. I have only ever used TinkerCAD and this is my first Fusion 360 design :D
