Description

A portable cable organizer which is setup as an easy print-in-place and includes a knob on the side for conveniently winding up the cable when you're ready to pack it away.

This model is an easy print that requires no supports, and three different sizes are provided to accommodate cables of different lengths. If you're not sure which to choose, I'd recommend starting with the “medium” size.

After printing, you'll want to place the cable within the groove at its halfway point, close the lid (which is intentionally designed to close tightly), wind up the cord clockwise using the handle, and then extend by simply grabbing the cable by both ends.

Update 2023-09-13:

Alternative smooth-sided versions of all three sizes have now been added, and also the handle design was slightly adjusted to add a small fillet and chamfer to decrease the bridge distance. Here's a close-up picture of the updated handle on the knurled and smooth-sided versions:

Excellent Model, printed perfectly with two on the plate - used the OP's "Large Size" profile. Thank you.

Couldn’t resist printing one of each of these! Printed in Bambu Basic PLA. Have previously experimented with PETG for cable winders, but find that the added elasticity means they open a little bit too easily. Thank you!

This print in place model worked just as advertised. I was a little worried about how it would do with the thickly braded cords I needed it for, but it had very little problem at all. I've printed it a few times now with different plates and I continue to be impressed with how well it comes out.

I use the X1C and I printed it in PLA at standard speed on the "Textured Plate"

well designed model, personally I don’t like grid infill but not sure if that is the model or online slicer

I love how the light catches your print with that filament you chose - very cool! Grid is currently the default value, but you can certainly change that if you open up the model in BambuStudio and change the "Strength -> Sparse infill -> Sparse infill pattern" option. Thank you for the kind review and sharing your make here.

was printed via the app so you don’t get to do much setup. not how I would normally print but was trying it out. filament was a tri colour.

Works as described. Easy wind up, and release. There is a little bit of unwinding effect, but I would imagine a mass market version of something like this would use springs to accomplish that type of tension. Would recommend, will keep my desk tidier since I have various occasional use wires.

For some reason the hinge becomes solid when I print this in Bambu PLA. In cheap generic PLA, however, they come out just fine :)
