Description

If you like my design please don't forget to give me a boost!

Support to add weight in the center of the Sunlu/geetech spools (72.2mm internal diameter) and not have problems with AMS.

Two models available:

1.- Empty inner box: in it you can put various materials to make weight: stones, sand, nuts, screws...

2.- Interior with 5 holes to house screws with nuts measuring M10. In this case, using an m10x5.5 screw and 6 nuts, we have a total weight of 500g (5x100gr). This weight is ideal for coils with less than 50% capacity, since this way they will always be between a total weight of 500g - 1kg, making the AMS work perfectly,

2 Varianten gedruckt. einfacher druck und funktioniert super. bevorzuge die im Bild linke offene Variante, da man hier flexibler ist mit dem befüllmaterial :-D

I've inspected a lot of spool weights so far, and i think this one follows by far the best concept. There is no risk of leaking batteries inside the AMS, you don't have to buy exotic calibration weights via AliExpress, and you will not pour sand all over your apartment floor because you wasn't careful opening the compartment. I wonder why no one else follows this approach. The parts are available in every hardware store for a small amount of money. At "Bauhaus" in germany you can get a box of 30 hex bolts for 6,50€ and a box of 50 hex nuts for 4,99€ (cheap since stainless steel is properly not needed 😉). The "all metal insets" give a lot of mass and you don't have to waste your precious filament to reach the desired spool weight like it's done at other models. Additionally the construction is very flexible, since it's easy to modify the total weight of the spool by adding or removing nuts from the bolts. Due to the hex design of the nuts nothing will rattle around when the slots are not completely filled. The general design could easily adapted to spools with other requirements for the inset, since nuts and bolts are available in various dimensions. The print was perfect on my X1C. It has enough tolerance to avoid jamming the bolts inside the holes. You just have to be careful not to overtighten the nuts and keep them a bit loose. If you keep that in mind the bolts can be easily inserted and removed again by just turning the print upside down. Just a small note: As far as i understand the description it tells to use M10 bolts with a 55mm length. At least here in germany it would mean that you have to buy M10x50 bolts, since the "head" is not included in the measuring on the package. The holes are ~55mm deep. So a big thank you to @sagatxxx for this nice model. It deserves way more downloads than it has right now, because the concept just rocks. I hope that similar designs will come available soon for other spool types e.g. the eSun cardboard spools.

I just published a model for Jayo coils, this one has been tested on my spools (54mm inner diameter and 59mm width), maybe it can also be used for esun spools: https://makerworld.com/en/models/126757#profileId-137068

Replying to @sagatxxx :
It seems that the model for Jayo spools could already fit the eSUN cardboard spools. I'll give it a try.
