Description

An adapter for the Sunlu brand of filament – the spools as-is are too loose for the AMS, so this adapter will allow it to be used for multicolor prints. It should stay in just fine without glue, so you can reuse them when you finish up your spool!

I found the model fit perfectly on the ID, OD, and was the perfect width. The parameters were great. The model didn’t include any way to inhibit side to side spool slide, so I did have to print out a quick donut shaped ring for that. The spools would sometimes walk near the edge and get wonky. The rings have a larger ID about halfway between the original part dimensions, so it doesn’t interfere with the AMS, and it has a slightly larger OD than the inside of the spool. I jbquicked them into place instead of reprinting because i printed 4 perfect. Made them work for me after measuring and drawing a ring. Works fantastic. I’m using 4 of them.

it works, but if it had been 2-3 mm larger it would have fit better.

Simple but effective. Doesn’t fit in all Sunlu spools, for some it is too small/loose.

fair — their spool sizes seem a little all over the place.

Tight enough that it won’t slip. Took some effort to get it in and I doubt I’ll be able to get it out very easily which can be a good thing.

did not work for me. I get the spool on the ams, but it won't load.

oh no! what won’t load, exactly? the adapter shouldn’t stop the ams from loading, it just ensures a tight fit. maybe try with a different spool to ensure your ams is working?

the adapter was somehow too big and too small. it only fit in the spool with some force, and clamped down on the ams too much for it too accept filament inside. I did get it to work though. when I tried to get the adapter out of the spool, I ended up ripping it in half, now just the half closer to the ams is attached, and it works perfectly.
