Description

Nice empty spool stand. A simple and convenient way to store all those empty spools you have laying around waiting to use in the perfect project. There are 2 versions of the Stand (base), version 1 is lighter and uses less material. Version 2 is larger, stronger, and uses more material. Depending on how high you are planning to stack the spools will effect your decision on which to print. I have mine stacked over 6' (182cm) for which i would recommend version 2. If you stack them less than 4' (122cm) you should be ok with version 1. Version 2 is strong enough to lift from the top of the rod with 28 spools stacked. I haven't tried, but it is probably strong enough to hold that many horizontal too. I also included on plate3 some sample prints you can use to test how easy it is to assemble the joints.

I have included the .step files in case you want to remix. The threading is metric standard m30x3.5, but with .15mm offset faces to make it easier to connect. I can think of many things that would be handy to add to this, and may add in the future. If you have a cool idea to add\remix let me know and i can send you the F360 files to help.

I printed mine with Sunlu PETG using the BambuLab Basic PETG profile at .28 layer height with no issues. Make sure to use brims on the rods, but is not needed on the bases. I think they would be fine printed with Bambu Tough PLA or Basic PETG. I don't know if standard PLA would be strong enough for a tall stand. I also printed 9 of the rod's on one plate at a time which puts the total height just over 6'.

Nice and solid design. I’m missing a knob at the top of the tower to complete. Made one of my self with multi color fuzzy skin.
