! Please take bed adhesion very seriously when printing these little helpers, use 3DLAC OR GLUE STICK if necessary, BUT not BRIM, if you want a nice Logo quality! In my printprofile the color sequence is set so that the logo color is printed first in order to get very nice, sharp contours. When BRIM is switched on, Brim will also be printed in LOGO color and unsightly marks will be left on the edges !

⚠️Does my AMS need version 2.1 or 2.0?

If your AMS was delivered to you by Bambu Lab before October 2023, then just print version 3.0.

If your AMS was delivered to you by Bambu Lab after October 2023, then I would simply measure the AMS Feeder Funel - see the pictures below.

⚠️If the funnel diameter is about 14.3mm, then you should print version 2.0, if it is about 14.5mm, then print version 2.1👌

If the funnel diameter is about 14.3mm - then you should print version 2.0
If the funnel diameter is about 14.5mm then print version 2.1

Why this Version 2.0?

There are several reports that AMS units that arrived to users from 08.2023 had a slightly changed configuration of the feeding funnel. The AMS Funnel Buttons on the new units are thicker. Thanks to information from users, I made appropriate changes to my popular Feeder Protector and at the same time I made some improvements that I was able to collect from users over time.

  • I titled the PTFE channel towards the spool so that the filament now has better guidance, even when the spool is almost empty.
  • The model is now even more suitable for Hydra Mod where PTFE no longer touches the AMS lid.
  • Few changes to the holding function, which now provides easier installation and good holding function.
  • PTFE path is now shaped in such a way that differences in the thickness of PTFE tube are no longer so important. I still recommend using a Bambu Lab PTFE, which is what I tested and have best expierience with.
  • And most important - version 2.0 now fits the old and new revisions of AMS feeding funnel.

Thanks to my supporter and tester @CerialPhreak_1003972. With his great help I was able to check and improve the functionality for the Hydra mod and the new revision!!! 🙏❤️👍

 

Bambu Lab X1 AMS Feeder Button Cover/Protector - what is that good for?

I have read some reports that the abrasive filaments "grind" the feeders from AMS (which are from soft plastic too) very quickly! And this problem may affect the loading and unloading filaments !

I found an interesting feeder cap at Printables (thank you, Maverick Ng, for sharing your model!) and reconstructed it so that the cap sits very stable on the feeder and can still be easily pulled on and removed. Look at Installation-Video on my Instagram Channel - its very easy! :-)

 

For version 2.0 I achieved the best results with the PTFE length of 18mm. I used a replacement PTFE tube that came with my Bambu Lab X1 Carbon.

 

Please read the print instructions carefully! They are important so that the small parts can be printed correctly and then sit and hold well on the feeder!

Print / Install Instructions:

  • place them with the logo on the build plate
  • first layer line width: 0,36 (0.4 mm Nozzle)
  • first layer speed: 10ms per second (for perfect look of the button-surface)
  • 2 perimeter, 4 top/bottom layer, 20% infill
  • take better PLA/ASA - they are stiffer, for better hold on the feeder
  • print layer height: 0.16mm and WALL generator: Classic (in this case please no Arachne) !!!
  • It is helpful to swith your Bambulab Printer from “Standard” Speed to “Quiet”!

Cool recomendation from User SHAYDED (Thank you! :-): “If you are struggling with sagging, move the parts closer to the aux fan, orient the overhang towards it, and crank it up to 70-100%”. I had no problems with sagging (just printed 4-5 of them at once and slow), but why not? :-)

Hi, I've got a problem here. This thing as cute as it is, just keeps pulling off the button - not much seems to hold it on. I've printed the tough version, btw. Printed the straight (previous) version, too. Mind you, I've also managed to just "push" it off its perch. I've used some leftover from a capricorn tube for the ptfe insert and I've a feeling when the tube is a tad more snug, you get this issue. I'll try to slice a bit off a different, looser tube next. But it's just not tight enough, no security to it. Just a feedback, you might want to try and add some clipping mechanism to the back so it actually stays on.

The part under the button should be sitting on the feeder button properly: “Push forward with the back of the cap against the lever to snap it in place. Then line up an press firmly down to get over the existing inlet, until it snaps in place.” Please check it - this „ Push forward with the back of the cap against the lever to snap it in place.“ is very important and it holds them properly! 🙏😉

Sorry, I don't do instagram. But I'll try to see what maybe done. I'm quite new to the printer, mind, I do not want to just disassemble it - I had enough of that with the Ender-6 (the picture above shows that you've got some part out of the AMS) Edit: ok, figured it out by the cap's design - since there's only one place it can catch on, really. You need to install it from the front while pushing the little button forward so the lip of the cap can slide under & catch onto the built-in button. Luckily this does not require a disassembly of anything.

Hi! Ja, die brauchen wirklich gute Betthaftung. Meine Empfehlung, falls Sie kein 3DLAC oder Glue Stick verwenden möchten, die Platte ordentlich mit isopropyl abzuwischen, Geschwindigkeit während 2 ersten Layer auf „Leise“ zu stellen, und nach dem Druckanfang Betttemperatur um 3-4 Grad höher zu stellen.. Ich hoffe es hilft Ihnen und sie werden Ihre Bewertung für das Model ändern, das ihre AMS Feeder wirklich gut schützen wird. Danke im Voraus! 🖐️😃

Printed great! Even though I got my AMSes this year I had to use this 2.0 model for them to fit. Printed in PLA on my X1C
