3D RC Model LOTUS 49
1967 Scale 1/8
By SebissCZ(Patrik Šebela) - Lotus 49 was a world championship winning car, famous for being a
the first Grand Prix car to use the Ford Cosworth DFV engine. With the car
49B, Graham won the 1968 FIA Formula One World Championship
Hill, while in the 49C, Jochen
Rindt. When the 49 made its debut at the 1967 Dutch Grand Prix,
it immediately seemed to be the class of the field, which was confirmed when Jim
Clark took the win and was supported by teammate
Hill, who took pole position.[1] Clark then went on to finish the season
1967, he scored three more wins and in the first round of the 1968 season
to the top spot on the all-time winners' list. Hill and Rindt also won
victories for the factory 49 cars and their subsequent developmental versions,
while privateer Jo Siffert won the Grand Prix of Great
British Grand Prix in 1968 for the Rob Walker Racing team.
Colin Chapman and aeronautical engineer Maurice Philippe and became the
a testing ground for all sorts of innovations. Since its
the 49 was the first car to successfully incorporate an engine as a
an integral part of the chassis, while allowing Chapman and
Philippe to experiment with aerodynamic wings. The 49 is
also known as one of the first cars to be sponsored
paintwork, with Lotus factory cars fondly remembering their
"Gold Leaf" designation.
