Description

You can print it with AMS like I did for convenience, but you could also just make the printer stop at the middle height and switch colors yourself.

This model makes about 45g of filament.

Serious? At first I thought of a joke! Next step was laughing about myself... why the hell should this not work?! So I tried it. I've to say, it came out much nicer than I expected! I used red (firetruck) and black filament from eSun, which are both very dark. Important: The colours in the picture are slightly off! The greyish blue part ist pure black, and the rest ist close to reality. Came out very nice! Thanks to Zapta for his great Gekko-model! https://www.printables.com/de/model/188761-gecko-stl-mesh-cleaned-up/ And sure... shoutouts to David Krammer for posting this idea! It's one kind of a mindopener ;-) EDIT: Jetzt spricht der auch noch deutsch und ich breche mir einen ab mit meinem DAU-Englisch :-D Ich machs kurz: Geile Idee! Ich steh auf so'n Sch***! :-D

Replying to @DavidKrammer :

Well it worked kind of cool I had my doubts. I could not get it to go threw the ams but straight loading it worked just fine Orange and Blue fyi thank you for the file will be playing with this.

Looks quite cool! Yeah i also printed my samples without AMS then. But for making the filament the AMS is a bit of a time save as you don't have to switch filament yourself

Beware… Tried an overnight print on a P1S 0.4mm nozzle, basic PLA, and it destroyed my hotend. I’m guessing the printer filament came loose off the plate and then scrambled everything. Printer is a week or so old.

It's not caused by the file. If you have a bad adhesion every print will fail.

for me it only completed once and it tangled (I will take the blame on that one). I am not saying that it is bad but I just wasn't able to print with it and I even tried swapping nozzles.

Just a freaking awesome idea! I did a trial run with silf gold and a sparkle silk blue. Gold went mostly greenish on the tigers (which is the mascot color for the school anyway) but I'm amazed how well it worked! 3 tigers was 44g, so I just hand wrapped this around a spool so it would run in the ams. Worked out perfect, with a gram to purge at the end.
