Description

Being a proud owner of a Tesla Model 3, I was looking for ways to improve my car use experience. I do find that shopping bags can fall and lose their content into the boot of the car. Placing the bag into one of the car's bays is one approach, but a trunk hanging hook is a simple approach, too. The Model 3 (and Y) have a protruding M6 bolt which can be utilised for a hook mount.

There are other similar trunk hook designs available for download, never-the-less I decided to create my own design. My design had to meet the following criteria:

  • Be strong.
  • Be straightforward to print.
  • Be able to handle the high temperatures common in cars.

I ended up choosing PETG filament to make the hook with. Fitted to the printed part is a M6x15mm metal screw insert similar to the following part:

https://www.boltandnut.com.au/m6-x-18mm-1-00p-metric-coarse-zinc-flange-threaded-timber-insert-nuts-low-tensile

Here is my 3D design. My design may match your needs, too.

My print is made with eSUN PETG 1.75mm Black filament, with 0.2mm layer height and 15% infill on a Bambu X1 Carbon printer. Wall Loops = 6; Infill = 25%. No Supports required.

I hope you can find this design useful, too.

Remember to leave me some feedback or even a tip to keep me enthused to make more of these drawings.
