Description

I really liked Charlie Waterworth's design as I intend to use the Xtouch screen in a different part of the house. Figured I preferred getting status updates, and error messages quickly, at a glance, without relying on the phone or computer apps. The only hesitation I had, was that some of the other designs included pen holders.

Before using this design please note:

  • I thought the original design could be flipped to have the screen at a different angle. While that is possible, in my case, the microusb cable could only pass through the holes on one of the sides. I manually cut out a bit at the other side so that the cable could go through. This was an inelegant solution, and the design can be modified.
  • The cylinder that houses the stylus is a bit too wide. It can still hold the stylus without it falling off, but if I did this again, I would make the hole smaller.
  • Also, when I remixed the design, I did not have the board with me and didn't realize how slim it is. If I did this again, I would attach the stylus holder in such a way that none of it projects beyond the face of the flat surface. If I flip the mount in it's current state the base of the mount will remain at an angle due to the projecting pen holder. In my case the stylus holder was fairly flexible so i simply pushed it downwards till it was level with the rest of the base. And so, the holder is attached by 3 maybe 5 layers to the rest of the body, and too much pressure might bend it inwards. This also means the care has to be taken while removing supports.

I used the Bambu splicer app to add a cylindrical object and then subtracted another cylinder to make the hole. I have no prior experience in 3d designing and will not be surprised if there are more efficient models out there. It meets my current needs, but if I do make further changes, I'll share them here.

I also intend to print 3m screws from this link : https://www.printables.com/model/437441-m3-screw-collection-3mm-20mm/files

You can flip the screen in Xtouch settings so the micro USB can use the original cut out with the screen in the 55 degree orientation that you have in your design.
