Description

PLA SILK GLOSS TEST
This test is based on the speed of the external wall to be used to have the desired shine, uniform and without changes for materials such as pla silk and other materials that vary their shine based on shape, thickness and overhangs.
Select your filament already set and calibrated before the slice and launch the print.
Once the printing is complete, check the maximum speed of the best external wall, to be able to set it in the printing parameters.
gloss affects the outer wall, so the other parameters can also be unchanged.
Another factor to try is temperature. Sometimes even raising the temperature by 10°C can make the finish shinier.
All that remains is to try.

did both 0.2 @ 245c 50% and 0.12 230c 100% had finishing issues on the smaller 1 but only on 1 side of it. strange

Thank you for making and sharing this model. I was able to use it to test default 220C (left one), then 230c (middle one), and for fun I modified the print speed of each later to be from 10-70mm/s w/ 10mm/s stepping just to see if going below 50mm/s was even better. I didn't change the printed numbers. I could not see any improvement going below 50mm/s so I stayed there. I do think the higher temp of 230c is a hair shinier, so I went with 230c @ 50 mm/s for my Flash Forge silk gold PLA. TY!!!!

Tweaked this model to test PETG print speed. Interestingly could see no difference at all between speeds, all layers printed just as nice and with the shame sheen.

yeah that's why I wanted to test it as I heard you could reduce the shine by speed or temperature, but I found neither made any difference.

no. il petg avrà sempre una rifinitura lucida. 5*? :)

needed to quickly gauge if some pla was bad and this helped us know it was no longer usable.

thanks for the review. this file is used to check at what speed to print the external wall with silk materials, so as not to have an opaque effect instead of a shiny one. It is mainly used for beginners, who use these materials with the bamboo lab but at standard settings and do not obtain the desired results. in simple terms it is a demonstration that printing speeds can vary the desired result.

Could you add one going low to 20 mm/s ?.Would appreciate this.

Great print. I didn’t notice the colour changes until I used this and saw them side by side. Thanks for creating this.
