Golden Ratio Calipers

If you found these, you probably already know what they are. TLDR, these calipers are used to divide a length into segments that abide by the golden ratio; 1:1.618. This ratio is used by artists, designers, woodworkers, and other such makers to design something that is aesthetically pleasing to the human eye. For example, when deciding how high to cut the lid on a box, a woodworker would typically make the lid-to-box ratio approximately 1:1.618 to make it look nice. Many things in our every day lives fit this ratio, including in nature itself. This tool can be used for layout work, checking items you already have, or just as a cool tool to keep around.

DXF files will be included with the STL, so you can use a laser, 3D printer, or whatever have you. I cut out a template with my laser and made these from brass with copper rivets.

Parts are modeled as 1/8" thick with 1/16" holes and can measure overall lengths from about 1" to 11.5". Design is scalable though, so you can always make them bigger. Assembly depends on how you make the pieces. Since I made mine of brass in the end, I made copper rivets. You can use machine screws, rivets, or some 3D printed version of the aforementioned. Assemble as I show in the first image.
