Description

This is in my humble opinion the best 3d printable bracket system for building 18650 batteries. it's simple, easy, and reliable.

 

Introduction:

After searching for a system to make building 18650 batteries easier, I was quite disappointed when nothing came up.

So I set myself the challenge of making something that was cheap and fast to print, that was easy and simple to connect, and super strong and reliable. After a few prototypes and revisions, this is what I came up with. It's compatible with all 18650 cells, way stronger than I could have imagined, and truly Lego-like possibilities. so whether you are building a mega pack to power your home or making a small power bank this is the system for you!

 

How to use:

Simply snap them together in the shape of your battery, place your cells in, and place more on top, that's it.

 

Pros:

  • Easy to use.
  • Quick to print.
  • Uses very little filament.
  • Surprisingly strong.
  • Safer than normal pack building.
  • It's easier to weld or spot weld compared to traditional ways of making packs.

 

Cons:

  • The fit can differ between different cell manufacturers, you might have to scale up or down a percent or two if you want a perfect fit.
  • The space between cells is bigger than traditional ways of building packs.

 

Disclaimer:

Making battery packs yourself is cheap, and fun, and the possibilities are endless, but can potentially be very dangerous, so be careful and only do this if you know what you're doing.
