Description

I have had trouble with the original dogbones and joints binding on the Cramer RC Truggy when the suspension was extended and during sharp turns, resulting in cogging and snapped wheel joints/dogbones.

This is a remix of the excellent CV joints and torque dampeners from the Tarmo5 to suit the Cramer Truggy, with the aim of reducing binding and part failures.

Please Note: I'm five batteries in since swapping over to the new parts. Cogging has reduced (but not completely), handling has improved through sharp turns, and most importantly - nothing has broken… yet (my record with the old dogbones was 1.5 batteries until something failed). Please let us know how you go if you try these out.

Additional Hardware;

  • 32x 6mm steel ball bearings (grab a bunch of spares too)

Prints;

  • Pair of ‘Rear Wheel Seat With Guard’ (both left and right). The replacements add a mudguard for the CV joints, limit travel to the same as the front arms and make room for the larger CV wheel housing
  • 8x 'CV INNER RACE' in PLA
  • 4x ‘CV CAGE’ in PLA
  • 4x ‘CV DIFF HOUSING’ in PLA
  • 4x ‘CV WHEEL HOUSING’ in PLA
  • 4x ‘TORQUE DAMPER V3 Extended’ in TPU

I've followed the print settings recommended for Tarmo5 since the design was originally for that car and was well-tested. When replacing the CV diff/wheel housings, screw things together before installing the CV inner race/cage/bearings so that you can tighten things properly.

All credit for these parts goes to @EngineeringNo_496832 - thanks for sharing your designs and making remixes like this possible.

And thanks for the awesome truggy @DukeDoks_302112 - I've really enjoyed building the truggy and hope to continue tweaking for a long while yet!
