Description

A very fun and simple fidget toy to play with. This is a kinetic hexagonal shape that can be flipped and rolled on a surface. It can also be played as a fidget toy with 2 halves attached by magnets.

I find that it flips best on a computer desk mat/mouse pad or countertop. On other surfaces, it might be too slippery for the hex to grip. The trick to make it flip is to gently flick your fingers instead of using a lot of force. Like this:

There are 2 models:

  • A model with magnet slots exposed. This is the easy-to-print one, very simple to assemble.
  • This model has hidden magnet slots which require you to pause the print and insert the magnets. You can add a pause at a layer in the slicer to do so.

For the best results, please print the model with 0.1-0.12mm layer height to minimize the steps on the top face. Print 2 halves then install the magnets afterward. I kept the magnet holes to be quite loose so it's easier to install.

Required: (4) 6x3 magnets

Disclaimer: This model is inspired by Flippoflip with their kinetic toys; however, the design is done from scratch. I designed, tested, and owned this model.
