AMS Lite filament spool anti-drop ring(AMS Lite 料盘防掉落圈)

 

In order to obtain higher strength and toughness of the model, it is highly recommended to print with PETG.

为了获得更高的模型强度及韧性,强烈建议使用PETG进行打印。

After a period of use, I found that AMS Lite could not reliably fix the filament spool (which also has something to do with the filament spool itself), and I encountered at least 5 times that the filament spool fell during printing, which may cause the printing failure or the filament spool damage (even more tragic if it hits the machine).
经过一段时间的使用,发现AMS Lite无法可靠的固定料盘(和料盘本身也有一定关系),我至少遇到不少于5次的打印中料盘掉落,可能引起打印失败或料盘损坏(要是砸到机器就更悲惨了)。

I analyzed the cause of the problem, as shown in the figure below, 1&4 is subject to outward force when running, and the vibration of the printer makes it relatively easier for the spool to fall.(2&3 also has a certain chance of being dropped due to the influence of the spool)
我分析了造成问题的原因,如下图所示,1&4在运转时会受到向外的力,加上打印机的震动,料盘相对更容易掉落。(2&3受料盘影响也有一定几率掉落)。


For this reason, I designed this filament spool anti-drop ring, hoping to reduce the situation of the filament spool falling to a certain extent, and reduce the loss caused by falling.

为此我设计了这个料盘防脱圈,希望能一定程度上减少料盘掉落的情况,减少因掉落而带来的损失。


I iterated multiple versions, and also carried out a certain number of tests, but the filament spool is diverse, so it is not guaranteed to be 100% effective to prevent falling, there should be room for improvement or better ideas in the future, welcome to recreate based on my design, if you use this model whether it is effective or invalid, please feel free to tell me through comments and ratings, thank you.

Note:
- If you want to print it out and try it, it is recommended to use it for 1 and 4 bays first
- After printing, please check whether the protrusion (overhang) on the top of the claw and its surroundings are smooth and regular, and trim them with a knife if necessary
- Please refer to the two images below for how to install and uninstall

- If your filament spool center hole is too large, you can try the filament spool adapter I made(AMS Lite filament spool adapter
- Currently (2023) AMS Lite is only available for A1 and A1 mini

- 打印完成后请注意检查爪子顶部的凸起(悬垂)及周围是否平滑规整,必要时用刀修整

Tiny Clips on the ends didn't print completely with this profile. reprinted with supports and it worked.
