I really like the design of this. Two thinks, that should be corrected:
- please make a kind of fixation for the filament. The clips are nice, but very fidely to use.
- the rise of the thread is not good. I get a lot of those nasty strings when I print it.
@schlosesserkristof Check out my remix with fixation holes and with the print profile using dynamic layer height in order to improve the threads. (: https://makerworld.com/da/models/103197
this is a terrific print. it makes it easy to consolidate nearly empty spools and save space, especially with the modular design which makes it easy to reload or swap them.
It fits at least 200g and probably 250g of filament per mini spool.
One word of caution though, make sure your PLA is dry before moving it over. Otherwise you’ll splinter the filament that was more tightly wound on the original spool.
Printed great, now to try and take my 250g spools and transfer them to these. Using it with the Universal Spool Adapter here https://makerworld.com/en/models/30758#profileId-27309. Only thing that could be better is the threads. It takes a lot of work to get the threads to fit the first time, after that they are fine.
I figured that other people were being a bit over dramatic with their complaints about the threads, but then I printed one of each side and tried to screw them together. Pretty sure I would break the spool completely if I applied enough force to overcome the resistance that I encounter about halfway. I’m not even sure if I can cleanly unscrew it. I love the idea, but as of right now it isn’t usable. This is with Overature PLA, I’ll give it another go with some of my Bambu PLA to see if the results are any better.
Prints great! But I can't see how this would work with the 1/3 spool dividers... the lead screw travels too far to center to use the spool closest to the gears, and the lead screw travels too close to the gears to use the spool in the center. Maybe this is only designed for the 1/2 spool dividers?
What a genius idea. These spools have got to be the greatest thing since sliced bread. I'm going to use one set to hold TPU in three flavors. I have plans to make another set to hold the leftovers of short spools. This could be a way to triple the spools in my four AMS units. All you have to do is feed the one you're using. I can hardly wait to see if there's a double spool in the works.
