Description

I work @ a repair shop and we have been discussing how to save loads of time repairing iPads while looking cool at the same time! I give you, TailS MeDiA's iPad Repair Stand Laptop V2!

We start with a big almost vertical side to hold up the digitizer after you open it. Using the notch at the bottom to make sure the digitizer sites right by the swinging arm that will hold it in place. you are then free to remove the 4 lcd screws and lift the lcd ontol the removable lcd arm so you can access the motherboard and plates with both hands free! It also helps in assembly so you can add tessa tape or your favorite adhesive around the edge without having to pro up the digitizer.

When you are all done, you can unlatch the digitizer and close up the ipad. Then fold up the repair stand down like a laptop and insert the lcd arm and the ipad stopper notch into the back of the digitizer holder so it ends up compact and all together, ready for your next repair!

I hope this helps repair technicians all over as much as it made my life easier.

PRINT TIPS:

  • this model is taller than your standard machine with a total height of 250mm so if you need to shrink to fit your build plate, make sure to shrink all parts equally
  • i included a bambu project file so you can see how i angled it on my print bed. it also has 2 sizes of notch if you want a bit more of a snug fit.
  • print with supports that touch build plate only! the hinge is print in place but it used a small support, the notch needed a support, and one side of the main folding hinge used a support as well
  • i printed with a layer size of .3 on a .4 nozzle so it should print in 5-6 hrs.

The Files included:

  • the main ipad stand itself with the built in print-in-place digitizer hinge & main fold hinge
  • 2 lcd arms (one with tighter tolerances so it hold on a bit better
  • 2 ipad notches so the main part of the ipad lines up with the digitizer hinge (one is tighter so it will not move as much)

i use the tighter notch and lcd arm so they stick in the solts a bit better and it has saved me loads of repair time! if you have any ideas for adjustments or changes, please let me know! im looking towards version 2.1 or maybe version 3! more field research data is needed!

10/4. I was making version 3 with a bigger hinge cause I need it to fold but when I do, I can make one that also doesn’t fold for people who don’t need that.

I glue it back and it’s working fine now.
