Description

Magnetic seal for glass door on 3d printer, Bambu P1S.

Uses 4 ¾" x 1/8" (19-20 mm x 3.0mm) rare earth magnets and 2 5/16 (8-10 mm) magnets.

I bought these from the local Hobby store. Measurements of the large magnets using Calipers are 2.7mm thick x 20mm diam :

Magnets hold the seal to the printer door frame, and also act as a magnetic hinge.

Print is slightly more than 32 grams and seems to stay in place pretty well.

Tapered dovetail construction allows seal to be longer than the print bed, and reasonably uncomplicated print and assembly

If you like, please ‘like’, follow and rate, or don't, no pressure. I thank you for your interest.

I have several other 3D printer addons, including an AMS buffer guide, a filament chute, and a magnetic door seal for the P1S.

You can check them out at Gomezgames2B upload page: https://makerworld.com/en/u/1906662470 ,…if you are so inclined.

To assemble the door seal:

  • Dovetails are tapered, will only fit together in one direction, and will seat tightly.
    • Seat the small top seal onto the larger bottom seal until fully seated with the seal completely flat.
  • You will likely need to apply pressure to the back of the seal with the seal flat on a solid flat surface.
  • Slide the buckle from left to right across the seam between the top and bottom seals to lock the seal flat together
  • The ¾"(20 mm) magnets should snap into place.
  • The 5/16"(10mm) magnets should stick easily to the hinge screws of the glass door.
  • The door should magnetically hold position when placed next to the magnets on the door hinges. If the magnets repel, the small magnets have the wrong side facing out, flip them over so their other flat surface is facing out and the magnets should attract.

This is kind of a new idea, if you have issues please leave me a comment and I will do my best to address them as soon as I can.

Thanks,

working well, maybe we should add some additional thin rubber for better close the gap. I print it with Polymaker Polylite ASA..

That looks really good in black. While I was working on this, I actually did consider putting rubber tape on the back (the magnets will still pull the seal flat), and I think you are right that it would work better. I'm afraid I just forgot about it as my temperature issues and ASA smell stopped being an issue around rev 2 (this is rev 7). I will have to revisit, Thanks.

What are the specs on the magnets? What thickness?

Thanks, I've added that to the instructions, reformatted them too. 1/8", slightly less than 3mm Purchased from Hobby Lobby:

Thanks. I appreciate the five star rating, especially on a new design.
