I've got the laser and was very happy with the small footprint.
Nevertheless, the protective shield was, at least in my case, completely warped and the thickness of the glass was variable as well. It did not provide a complete protection, as in my case, the front right corner did some light come through. In order to fix this, I've desiged this protective shield, which can be printed and uses parts of the original protective shield, which could be cut on a table saw or using a Dremel or such.
I've printed mine in ASA, in order to get the UV stability and make it as tough as possible. You may print in other materials as well. I order to complete the piece, you may need to cut or get some protective acrylic glass.
The acrylic glass material should be 2.5 mm in thickness.
Sizes needed are as following:
Front window: 232 x 138 mm (1-2 mm are tolerance)
Side windows: 130 x 138 mm (1-2 mm are tolerance)
There are some openings in the back in order to drag air into the chamber for the exhaust vent.
The model is a WIP and if something is not correct, please leave a comment.
I will test the final assembly in a few days and may need to do some updates to the design. Pictures of the final assembly will follow as well.
