Description

Here's a hard drive bay that I designed for my home server running TrueNas Scale. My HP server case doesn't have enough drive bays. It is connected to the server via a LSI 9200-16e SAS PCIe card found on ebay. The card needs to be in IT mode to work with TrueNas. It uses almost two spools of filament and takes 3 days, so print with purpose!

Front grill is attached with two 120 mm fans connected to a SATA hub.

Power is from an SFX form factor power supply. Keep in mind that since there's no motherboard in this build, the power supply has to be shorted to power on. Instructions are easily available online.

I used those cables to connect the drives to the SAS card: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B08NGGPPCY?ref_=cm_sw_r_apin_dp_9YRB9BSF60TKW87TWNKS&language=fr-CA

It is a V1 that I plan to make better, but for now it works wonderfully. The temps are always super low!

No tools of screws needed to assemble the enclosure, only the hardware for the fans and power supply (screws) is necessary!

Have fun!!
