Description

Summary

The Corsair 280X is a beautiful little case, I picked one up to rebuild my gaming rig with the newly released Ryzen 3700X once Linux support stabilized. I also did a custom watercooling loop for the very first time, cramming a 280mm rad up top and a 240 on the bottom. Temps were more than excellent, but I wanted to give my PC just a little extra breathing room down below as the stock clearance from the provided feet is only about 10mm.

I did some google-fu and saw a handful of suggestions to use nylon washers, but I own a 3D printer and a desire to learn! So with no prior experience in parametric modeling, I downloaded FreeCAD, gave myself a trial by fire, and came out the other side with these custom fit 11mm extensions and I felt such a sense of "pride and accomplishment" that I just had to share with the community!

Feel free to tweak and remix this design however you see fit, it shouldn't be a huge deal to shorten or lengthen the feet to your own needs.

Post-Printing

A small screw note..

If you need your feet secured in place as the stock ones are, there is a pass-through hole in the risers specifically for this. However, you will need to source some longer screws. My uninformed knowledge suggests that the originals are M3x5 so at some point I'm going to dig around and see if I can find 4 longer M3's around my workshop. If not, I believe M3x15 or M3x16 are the size needed, though they might need a bit of grinding down to not poke anything inside the case.

They will still fit nicely without the screws, as they have 2 nubbins that line up with positioning holes in the case, but when you lift up they will fall out.

How I Designed This

A Trial By Fire

I made this completely blind. Never used FreeCAD - or any 3D modeling software - in my life. It had some enraging moments, but if you just take it step by step, and consult lots of youtube tutorials, anyone can do 3D design!
