Description

This Universal Caliper Safety Case is designed to work with most 6in calipers.

The simple design allows for easy modification and editing.

Fits most print bed sizes, if not let me know and ill be sure to update it.

 

DISCLAIMER

the tolerances on the latch are very precise and can vary from printer to printer, make sure your printer is well calibrated before printing!

 

 

If you're anything like me, you always have some caliper nearby. Again if you're anything like me, you might be a little clumsy and drop your calipers measuring a tricky part or setting them down on a crowded desk only for them to get knocked off or things stacked on top of it.

I created this case to prevent damage to those O so fragile calipers and their very particular measurements.

 

If this model gets some love I will be uploading a tpu insert for the Case so there can be even more protection for your precious calipers.

 

Assembly Instructions

Attach the latch to the top housing with some force. There are some cone shaped attachment points on both the latch and the top housing.

 

Next push the left, followed by the right side back hinges together (or vice versa) same cone shaped hinges as for the latch.

 

Print Settings

----------------

Print each part flat face down so you have the most surface area touching the build plate as possible

 

The latch is designed to be printed vertically using a brim at the bottom for extra stability.

I have integrated some 60 degree slopes for ease of printing.

Great print, printed on pei texture, also made a tpu insert, just started playing with Tinkercad and I am hooked. Thank you for the file.

Surprisingly, this works perfect. I was expecting this to fail me in some way.

Love the case but, the hinges & latch are really tight.

I'm going to try a reprint, I had some X-Y comp on to correct for sizing issues & apparently Bambu Studio can't comp painted parts so, the latch & bottom were printed with comp while the lid was printed (after coloring the text) without. Probably the root of my issues.

One of the hinges snapped and flew off immediately, hitting me in the face. I didn't expect to need to wear PPE for a tension fit. It's just going to sit in a drawer and holds together with just the 3 points of contact.
