Description

The inner cardboard hub on Inland filament spools is slightly larger than the hub of Bambu’s re-usable spool. This model adapts Inland’s cardboard spool hub to fit Bambu’s re-usable spool. It contains a notch along the base to align with the notch on the re-usable spool, keeping the adapter from spinning. It also contains grooves down the side to lock the end of the filament in place. The insert fits the Inland cardboard hub firmly but not overly tight.

Simply pull off one side of the cardboard spool being careful to ensure the leading filament end is secured to the over side. Insert the adapter into the cardboard hub and slide one side of the re-unable spool into the adapter. Carefully tip the spool over and transfer the leading filament end to the other side. Pull off the cardboard on this side and insert the other side of the re-useable spool. Don’t forget to slide the tailing end of the filament into one of the groves.

TIPS:

  • Be careful not to lose track of either end of the filament during the transfer. Ask me how I know (LOL)
  • If you have trouble inserting the adapter into the cardboard hub, make sure the glue bead is removed from the interior of the cardboard hub.
  • If you have trouble getting the adapter to lock together, make sure the tailing end of the filament is not caught between the spool side and the cardboard hub edge.

I don't know how broadly replicable this information is, but for me the spool fit great with this adapter (thanks!) on one spool and not on another. I'll attach a photo with the spool that worked and the one that didn't. You can see the monitoring holes on the right side of the spools in the picture are different. Hopefully their spools stay consistent so that you can at least determine which spools will work before you rip the spool apart. Top (PLA+): DIDN'T WORK! Bottom (Matte PLA): WORKED!

Inland spools seem to have a more than one size.

Sorry you had issues @Rkdauph. Did you make sure the glue bead was removed from around the interior of the hub? What type of filament did you try it on? It has fit all of the PLA spools I have tried so far.

Replying to @KPGrear :
Yes, glue was removed. Inland PLA on two different spools.
