The Bambu CMYK LED Backlight Board keeps selling out before I can order it, so I made an alternative. These pair of photo booth lights have a similar light board and come with the USB cable and on/off/intensity switch for about the same price as two Bambu backlights. As a bonus, you get two little tripods in the light kit. I designed a frame that displays 144x108mm lithophanes (same size as Bambu). The frame can be oriented horizontally or vertically simply by turning it on end.
Feb 1, 2024 - As suggested by a user, I have added a profile with two diffuser options to use with the backlight frame. See pictures in the diffuser profile. STL's added to the raw download section.
Printing Instructions
No supports required. Print in PLA or PETG, .2mm layer height, 5% infill. My profile has the frame, two straps, 4 feet and a white shroud for the inside of the frame. STL's located in the raw download section.
Assembly Instructions
Items required
Frame x1
Straps x2
Feet x3
M3x8mm hex screws X4
Photo booth lights from Amazon or other source. These work well, as may others of similar size.
Align the light on the back of the frame and secure it with the two straps and 4 screws.
Add three feet to the back of the frame using the 5mm guide pin. If you only ever display the lithos in landscape mode, you only need two feet along the horizontal edge. Secure the feet with a drop of CA glue.
Plug it in and enjoy while you wait for the Bambu backlights to come back in stock!
