Description

A sturdy scoop with measurements in Liters and US Cups.

The end result looks like a pitcher or a coffee mug, but the intended purpose was a strong scoop to move things like rock salt, dirt, or sand from the original bag or container. The measurement lines were a “why not” addition.

Do not use this for measuring food or water (or anything for eating). 3D printing is generally not considered food safe, and this model in particular has large etchings and layer lines that would be difficult to clean, and may build up bacteria.

….plus the measurements are “close enough" for imprecise things, but not baking. This would ruin your cake.

Measurement lines:

  • Liters: 0.25 / 0.5 / 0.75 / 1.0
  • Cups: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4

Versions

Both are 150mm tall with 100mm internal diameter

  • Regular
    • 3mm thick walls, 10mm thick handle
    • Quite strong even in basic PLA
  • Extra Sturdy
    • 5mm thick walls, 20mm thick handle
    • Probably overkill and not needed

Print Settings

  • Layer Height: 0.20mm Standard
    • This can turn out a big jagged on the top, so it also works to do variable layer height with .08 or .12mm near the very top
    • The print profile I added starts at 0.20 then switches to .08 for the top 10mm
    • There are a couple ways to do this yourself; I think the easiest is to right-click the object on the Prepare tab and select Height Range Modifier
  • Wall Loops: 3
  • Sparse Infill: 15%, Cubic
    • Changing this doesn't have a big effect on the Regular model, since there's not much infill on the body
  • Filament: Basic PLA is fine - I printed in both Bambu PLA and generic (Inland/Microcenter)

Again, don't use this for things that you, your pets, your friends, or even your enemies will eat.

Update History

2024-01-29

- Reprinted with the new & improved STL files

- Updated the print profile and added new photos

2024-01-28

- STEP files added.

- STL files were replaced with a higher quality export from the CAD software. The design is 100% the same, but prints faster and appears more round (more like a true circle than a 100-sided polygon).

- Description revised.

2024-01-25

- Original design and print profile uploaded.
