3D model description

Predator Face Light Box / Piggy Bank

This large predator face light box also doubles as a sizable piggy bank. Designed to fit a build plate of 200mm x 200mm but looks really big and chunky. Just add a lighting systems of your choosing (i'm using a cheap strip LED positioned inside at the rear of the box but any light source will do, battery operated or wired).

Money is removed from the box using a neat triangular stopper on the bottom. The rear of the box has a rectangular hole if you are using a wired lighting system, but has an additional bung to block off light from the rear (which fits neatly inside the box).

STL Files - There are 3no. transparent parts to pick from (shown red in my pictures) of varying thickness - Flat-4=0.4mm thick, Flat-8=0.8mm thick and Flat-12 = 1.2mm thick. I am using the 0.8mm one as pictured.

Pick from either Face or Face-Off2/4. Face has no inward offset (for printers with tight tolerances), Face-Off has the perimeter offset inward by 0.2mm / 0.4mm (which I have used myself).

STL files are pre-oriented for best printing.

Assembly instructions - Print out Box, Rear-Bung and Bot-Stop - select from either of the two face options and select from one of the three flat (transparent parts) and print those. Add your lighting option and install (I used a 1m LED strip adhered towards the inside rear of box). Put the rear bung in place to stop light coming out of the rear. Put the triangular bottom stop inside (it doesn't have to be in place, just inside the box. Glue the transparent flat section onto the internal lips at edge. Once set, glue the face onto the transparent section. You can then hold the box upright and put the triangular stop into the correct position using your fingers.

New addition - Diff file is an insertable light diffuser. I printed it in transparent filament but white would probably do also.

Other information - When the box is getting full-up with coins, just tip over and move the triangular stop across. Let all the money come out then re-position the triangular stop. With some coins inside, the triangular stop is weighted and won't move so you can transport the box around freely without the coins coming out. The coin slot is located discreetly at the rear towards top and has an angled slide inside (to stop light projecting out of the coin slot).

3D printing settings

This is a very easy print and assemble.
A 200mm square bed is required (size is 180mm wide x 190mm tall by 102mm high).
Turn off supports, they are not required.
No bridging is required.
Print all items at 100% infill.
No rafts or special adhesion settings required.
I printed this using a 0.8mm nozzle with good results. Use your standard 0.4mm nozzle for even better results.
