3D model description

This is a model 313 EMU. The Class 313 units were the oldest EMUs operating on the National Rail network in Great Britain prior to their withdrawal in 2023, having entered service in 1976

This design is for the EMU bodies, chassis and bogies only. The files include the bodies for the Second Trailer and Driving Motor units, individual windows, horns and pantograph insulators. It does not include wheels, motors, gears, or the pantograph to get this model running.

late and early versions added

DM and ST Chassis and four bogie variations added

To do: upload the 507 ST body version (no pantograph)

This is a scratch building project and requires modelling skills, tools and paints to finish.

There are small holes/indentations in the ends to fit your own wire handrails.

SMALL PARTS:
The files are all TT120 scale (1:120) There is an .stl for wipers, but these are very tiny and fragile and failed to print for me at this scale. Rather than experiment with orientation, resins and settings I am going to make some out of brass wire.
The horns are also very small, but they did work. However, I would recommend printing some extra pieces as I did have a couple of failures.

I will be finishing this model with RailMatch acrylic paint and transfers from Railtec.

NB:
As mentioned in the settings I used Siraya Tech simple for these prints. To put it tactfully - I don't really think it's the best resin for this application, but a have 1kg of it now. :(

Changes 06-02-24 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Renamed 1980 models to 1976
Added variants for later 1976, 1988 and class 507/508 EMUs

3D printing settings

Resin printing recommended - I can't advise on the feasibility of an FDM print because I haven't tried it.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
For the prints shown I used Siraya Tech simple grey. It was OK, but I feel ABS-like or Tenacious would be better. Siraya Tech simple clear was used for my windows,. ( I haven't put them in yet.)
