3D model description

In the fateful spring of 1945, amidst the final throes of World War II, Operation Spring Awakening emerged as the last major Axis offensive of the war. 1. SS-Panzer Division’s determined push as the Southern spear tip of the offensive was met by the Soviet 5th Guards Cavalry Corps` desperate rush to stem the Axis breakthrough.

BREAKTHROUGH is an operational-scale print-and-play mod and scenario package developed by ClusterStudio for Rommel, Sam A. Mustafa’s excellent grand tactical game system. To let players command divisions and army corps, and to allow for increased realism and the use of more specialized units, the following rules are modified compared to the original version of Rommel:

SCALE The battlefield grid size is increased to 1.5x1.5 square kilometers, the length of a game day is decreased to 16 turns, and artillery ranges are recalculated. A maneuver unit represents a battalion instead of a company, while artillery assets are typically depicted on the regimental level.

ROADs Units are only allowed to use strategic reserve movement on roads actually represented on the battlefield.

Massed AT Antitank units are physically represented in any scenario where they historically were employed in a concentrated way. The attacker never gains tank shock when attacking a grid square containing at least one AT unit.

REPRESENTATION of Units All units with a numerical Armor Value are armored. Non-armored units that display at least one truck or truck-mounted weapon system on their model are motorized, while those showing riding horses count as cavalry. All other units are considered leg (in case of maneuver battalions) or towed (for artillery units).
